UTEP Men's Basketball Defeats SMU in Dallas, 62-51

Wednesday, February 10: The UTEP Miners, holding on to first place in Conference USA, defeated SMU tonight, 62-51 at Moody Coliseum in Dallas. Randy Culpepper led UTEP with 18 points, Derrick Caracter scored 16 points with 8 rebounds, and Jeremy Williams chipped in 11 points, as UTEP improved to 18-5 overall, 9-1 in Conference USA. Mouhammed Faye led SMU with 19 points, but SMU shot just 34 percent from the field. UTEP outrebounded SMU, 35-29, and held SMU to just 9 second-half rebounds. 7pm Saturday night, UTEP will host East Carolina.
