El Paso, T.X. – The UTEP softball team dropped another game to UAB, 4-1, on Sunday afternoon at UAB Softball Field. The Miners (12-28, 1-16 C-USA) fell behind 2-0 in the first inning and the Blazers (29-11, 16-2 C-USA) struck out 13 batters to stay half a game up on Houston for first place in Conference USA.

Junior Alanna Leasau doubled to center to open the seventh inning. After a couple of outs, freshman Danielle Pearson singled to left center that drove in freshman Morgan Rasmason (pinch ran for Leasau) to bring the Miners within three runs. Pearson advanced to second on a fielding error on the same play to get into scoring position but the rally ended when Leigh Streetman recorded her 13th K to end the contest.

The Miners return to non-conference action when they face rival New Mexico in Albuquerque in a Wednesday doubleheader.
