UTEP Jumps To 28th in Coaches’ Top-25 Poll
UTEP moved up to 28th after garnering 22 votes in the most-recent ESPN/USA Today Coaches’ top-25 poll released Tuesday. It was 31st with eight votes in last week’s version. It marks the fourth straight week that the Miners (22-2, 11-0 Conference USA) have received votes in both major polls.
UTEP extended its overall win streak to 12 after dispatching Marshall (64-56, 2/9/12) and Tulane (80-65, 2/12/12) last week while also remaining atop the Conference USA standings. It is 11-0 in league play, but Memphis (9-2), UAB (8-3) and Tulane (7-4) remain in the hunt. Additionally, three of UTEP’s final C-USA contests are slated for hostile territory.
Both of the games for the Orange and Blue this week will come on the road. They open up the roadswing at Tulsa at 6 p.m. MST on Thursday while playing at Houston at 12 p.m. MST on Sunday. Each contest will be broadcast locally in El Paso on 1150 AM, and fans can also stay up-to-date with the team through its Twitter feed and Facebook page.
