ith the 2010 season opener versus Arkansas-Little Rock a mere two weeks away, the UTEP football team went through a 64-play scrimmage on Saturday night in the Sun Bowl.

The Blue team -- featuring offensive stars Donald Buckram and Trevor Vittatoe -- posted a 28-17 victory over the Orange, as six different Miners reached the end zone on the night.

Buckram, Joe Banyard and true freshman Nathan Jeffery each recorded short scoring runs, while UTEP's special teams unit accounted for three more TDs. Donavon Kemp had a 99-yard kickoff return, Evan Davis had a 67-yard punt return and Marlon McClure added a 76-yard punt return.

Dakota Warren completed the scoring with a 21-yard field goal.

Vittatoe completed 6-of-10 passes for 73 yards, while four other quarterbacks (Javia Hall, Carson Meger, Tate Smith, James Thomas) also saw action. Buckram finished with five carries for 43 yards. The Miners also received big rushing performances from Banyard (nine carries-51 yards) and Leilyon Myers (eight carries-48 yards).

Davis led the receiving corps with 35 yards on two catches.

Defensive stars included Antwon Blake, who picked off Meger, and true freshman Adrian James, who intercepted Hall.

The Miners will take Sunday and Monday off and return to the practice field on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m
