Friday, August 6: Dakota Warren never knew he would have this kind of opportunity on the Division 1 level. Warren is the only scholarship kicker on the UTEP roster, and will likely handle punting, field goal and kickoff duties for the Miners this fall. "I like him, he's good. We have got to get the snap, hold and his kick. If he was just standing back there kicking with no one rushing, it would be fine, but we have to work on all the other points of it.", said UTEP Head Coach Mike Price. Sophomore Kicker Dakota Warren added, "I feel good, my kickoffs, my field goals and my punting are right where I want them to be, so I am just trying to get more consistent and hit the ball farther, so I feel good." Warren played one season with Henderson State before transferring to Ventura College, where he redshirted before coming to UTEP. Warren, an Austin Texas native who played at Cedar Park High School, set a school and Gulf South Conference record with a 79-yard punt in his first career attempt , and also kicked off 18 times for 993 yards (55.2 average).
