UTEP’s Risper Kimaiyo and Elkana Rotich will compete in the 2011 NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships in Terre Haute, Ind., on Monday, Nov. 21.

The event is held at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course on the Indiana State campus. The man’s 10,000-meter race will begin at 11:08 a.m. (ET). The women will follow at 11:58 a.m. with the 6,000-meter race.

Kimaiyo was named the 2011 Mountain Region Athlete of the Year following her performance at the Mountain Region Championships, where she finished first with a time of 20:35. The junior became the first woman in school history to win back-to-back cross country regional titles. At last years national meet Kimaiyo finished fourth clocking in a time of 20:16, earning All-American honors.

Rotich was selected to the All-Region squad for his performance at the 2011 Mountain Region Championships, where he posted a time of 31:03 to place 14th overall. The junior has earned Conference USA Athlete of the Week honors three times for his performances at the Lobo Invitational, Kachina Classic and Pre-Nationals. This is Rotich’s second trip to the national competition.

A live webcast of the championships will be broadcast from noon to 1:30 p.m. ET on NCAA.com. In addition, highlights from the championships will be included as part of the CBS NCAA Fall Seasonal Show scheduled to air on Saturday, Dec. 18, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. ET on CBS HD.
