The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets' Head Coach Paul Johnson was left saying "this hurts"... and "I am not sure what happened".
What happened was the resilency of the Utah Utes, coming back from a 14-point deficit to sting Georgia Tech in overtime, 30-27. Utah running back John White IV was named Sun Bowl MVP for his 115 rushing yards and game winning touchdown.
"Man, all I was thinking about was scoring. The lane was huge. #30 right there. I just plowed over him and got into the endzone. That's all I needed to do."
Utah's DeVonte Christopher added, "That just summarizes our season. We had a slow start but finished when it mattered. That was huge."
Tech's Justin Moore kicked a 34-yard field goal in Georgia Tech's overtime possession to take a three-point lead, but White finished a 115-yard rushing day with the game-winning score on his 26th carry.
Paul Johnson said after the game, "We had a lot of opportunities in the game and we couldn't capitalize. I felt we had a lot of opportunities in the first half. We hurt ourselves with a couple penalties and turnovers. You feel like somebody kicked you in the gut."
Georgia Tech lost its seventh straight bowl appearance and Utah improved to 7-1 in bowls under Whittingham.
