USC is on probation but Tim Floyd is in the clear.

The NCAA slapped four years probation on Southern Cal including a two year bowl ban in football. The basketball program received a one year postseason ban for the illegal recruitment of O.J. Mayo.

Floyd was head coach at USC during that period but a cover letter to him says, "the committee did not name you in any findings of violations or impose a penalty upon you."

There will be no "show cause" penalty attached to UTEP for hiring Floyd as head coach.

In a University released statement, UTEP Athletic Director Bob Stull said, “We are pleased with today’s announcement and the results of the NCAA’s report. Tim Floyd has had a nearly 30-year relationship with UTEP and we regard him not only as an outstanding coach, but as an individual of the highest character. I’m sure that Tim is happy to put this behind him and we look forward to him leading our basketball program.”
