El Paso's six newest Track and Field State Champions all returned home Sunday and recounted their experience from Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin over the weekend at the UIL Track and Field State Championships.

"When I first realized I got gold it took me a couple minutes to process it. Until I got my medal and saw how big it was and people started calling me," said Franklin's Felix Obi who won the 5A triple jump.

4A long jump champion Brandon Moss, a senior at Chapin, agreed.

"Once I won, I was pretty speechless because I've never won. I've been on varsity for three years trying to save up to get to this point. Then once it happened, I didn't know what to say or how to react. I was just ecstatic," said Moss.

Burges High School brought back four State Champions after their 1600 Meter relay team won gold. The team of Xavier Matthews, Aaron Jones, Monderrio Turner and Danny Tarango became the first relay team from El Paso to bring back the State Title. Tarango also brought back a gold medal in the 800 Meter run.
