Sponsored by the United States Air-Force Reserve, Hall of Famer and ex-San Diego Padres star Tony Gwynn will throw out the first pitch on Thursday June 17, 2010 at 7:05 p.m. at Cohen Stadium, as the El Paso Diablos take on the Pensacola Pelicans. In addition to throwing out the first pitch, Tony Gwynn will also be available for a meet and greet picture session during Thursday’s game. In addition to having one of baseball’s all-time legends in attendance, the El Paso Diablos will also be having their Thirsty Thursday promotion, sponsored by L & F Distributing. Come out and enjoy select Budweiser brands for only $1.00 until the 7th inning.

The ex-San Diego Padres star right fielder is a twenty year veteran and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in Cooperstown back in 2007. He received 532 out of a possible 545 votes that year in Hall of Fame voting. The fifteen- time NL All-Star played his entire career with the Padres earning four Gold Gloves and finishing in the Top 10 seven times in MVP voting. The twenty year veteran finished his amazing career with 3,141 hits, 1,138 RBIs, and a .338 career batting average which is the highest average since Ted Williams. In 1994 Gwynn finished the season with a .394 batting average.
