Youth soccer teams from across the region will descend upon El Paso this weekend for the 15th Annual Academy Sports and Outdoors Sun Bowl International Soccer Tournament. Over 100 teams will convene at the Westside Sports Complex beginning at 8 a.m. on Saturday, June 7, for the two-day tournament.

“The response from the soccer community with this year’s soccer tournament has been extraordinary,” Sun Bowl Association Executive Director Bernie Olivas said. “We have been fortunate enough to have found a supporting sponsor like Academy Sports + Outdoors that shares our passion for this community and values the importance of athletics in our youth. This event is an example of the importance of the sport of soccer in the City of El Paso.”

Games will begin at 8 a.m. on Sunday in the 22-field Westside Sports Complex.

Academy Sports + Outdoors, with two locations in the city, is in the sixth year of sponsoring the international affair that is open to all U6 to U19 boys and girls teams in the region. The competition ranges from recreational to very competitive in every age group.

The Sun Bowl Association and Academy Sports + Outdoors are joined by the City of El Paso, the El Paso Parks and Recreation Department, the El Paso Youth Soccer Association and Fort Bliss to bring the highest level of competition to the children of El Paso.
