The 2010-2011 5A New Mexico State Champion Oñate basketball team held their award banquet tonight in Las Cruces. Among other awards, the team received their rings. The highlight of any championship. The Knights won the first basketball State Championship in school history taking down Manzano 54-48 back in March.

"These guys never folded all year. They stepped up to the plate and got the job done, and that was winning the 2011 New Mexico State Championship," said Head Coach Saul Perez.

"We were the hardest working team in the state, and it showed throughout the year. We could win tough games, we could blow teams out, we could play with anybody," said Senior Guard Tim Jacobs. "Greatest feeling ever, feels like my hand weighs like 20 pounds right now, but it's worth it."
