Jefferson's State and National Champion wrestler Yvonne Galindo picked a perfect place to extend her wrestling career, a powerhouse in women's wrestling. Today, Galindo signed to wrestle at Oklahoma City University, a program that picked up its second WCWA national title and third NWCA National Duals crown in a row in 2009-2010. Oklahoma City is coached by Archie Randall, an El Pasoan who earned his degree from UTEP in 1977.

"I am really excited because I know there is so much more to do out there, and I am excited to tackle it. But I'd like to say I am a good role model, and to all the young girls out there, to everybody, even to those not in sports, as long as you set your mind to it, you can get there," said Galindo. Yvonne won the 2011 and 2012 UIL state championship, and the 2011 national championship.

Emilio Noriega signed to attend and play football for the Southwestern University Pirates in Georgetown, Texas this upcoming fall. Noriega was awarded the Ruter Scholar award and Ernest T Dixon scholarship both by Southwestern U. Noriega is a top student at Hanks High School and has lettered 3 years for the Knights football team. As the quarterback, Noriega threw for 5,325 yards and 52 touchdowns in his career at Hanks. Noriega holds the school single season record for pass percentage completion of 62.7% and the school single game record for passing yards of 443. He was selected as 2012-13 2-4A All-District Quarterback First-Team and was recently voted 2012-2013 Hanks HS Male Athlete of the Year.

Mr. Bagley I would like to thank you for such professionalism and excellent common courtesy at Yvonne Galindo's signing at Jefferson High School. I was holding my 6 month old son when you moved your camera as I walked to have sit down. I'd like to acknowledge to KTSM that they have a well respected news reporter in Mr. Bagley. Thank You.
