Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo said he is prepared to start Monday night when Dallas hosts rival Washington in their home opener. Romo broke a rib and punctured a lung last Sunday against San Francisco and sat out practice the majority of the week. He is currently listed as questionable but says he is ready to go.
"I don't think we can say anything 100% right now. It's a matter of the day to day and just keep getting better. Like I said, we'll look at it as we move forward. I'm obviously planning mentally for going out there," said Romo.
He also had a message for the Redskins' players who said they would be targeting Romo's injury.
"I'm sure I'll target whoever is targeting my ribs in the passing game."
Head coach Jason Garrett, meanwhile, has taken a much more cautious stance on Romo's status for Monday.
"Ultimately we are going to gather the information we get throughout the week. We're going to get a feel for how he is feeling going into the game and then we will make some decisions," said Garrett.
Dallas has won four of the past five against Washington, but the Cowboys have yet to win a home opener at the new Cowboys Stadium since it's opening.
