Spain Takes Euro Crown Again

Sports

POSTED: Sunday, July 1, 2012 - 9:54pm

UPDATED: Sunday, July 1, 2012 - 10:55pm

Madrid broke out in pure joy Sunday after Spain declared victory in the Euro 2012 Soccer Championships.

Thousands of fans cheered in Madrid's famous Cibeles Square after Spain beat Italy with a score of four to zero. Spain becomes the first team to win successive European Championship titles and collect three consecutive major tournament titles (2008 Euro, 2010 World Cup, 2012 Euro). It is also the highest margin of victory achieved in either a European Championship or World Cup Final. Celebrations are expected to continue into the early morning.
