Analicia Estrada was named as the new varsity volleyball coach at Socorro High School in an announcement March 9 in the school’s gymnasium.

Estrada served as the assistant varsity volleyball coach and head junior varsity coach at Socorro High School since August 2011. She worked as head coach with Advanced Volleyball in Amarillo, Texas from 2008 to 2009 and was an intramural coordinator with Wayland Baptist University Intramurals from 2007 to 2009.

She earned a bachelor of science in exercise sport and science with a minor in education and a coaching specialization in 2009 from Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, Texas. Estrada is also a 2005 graduate of Socorro High School.

“I’m excited to be here,” Estrada said. “These are hard-working girls. They don’t give up and always give 100 percent. Right now, we are going to work on weights and conditioning and individual work. After that, we’ll put it all together and see how they mesh as a team.”

Socorro High School principal Miguel Serrano introduced Estrada as the new coach to the volleyball team and various school faculty, staff and SISD administration.

“I’ve known Analicia since she was a student-athlete here at Socorro,” Serrano said. “This is her dream job, where she always wanted to be. Now she’s able to live her dream job and give back to the community.”
