UTEP safeties coach Al Simmons is leaving his UTEP duties to take a co-defensive coordinator position at Colorado State.  Simmons will join Marty English as co-defensive coordinator.

According to Colorado State, this season will mark the first time in program history CSU has had two individuals sharing the leadership of the defense.

UTEP Head Coach Mike Price released this statement to Newschannel 9:

"We are very appreciative of what Al Simmons did for us this year. We wish him the very best. He left on a real positive note. It's a chance for him to coordinate the defense at Colorado State as a co-coordinator. We look forward to the competition that we'll be having in the next few years. The search for a new coach will begin as soon as possible."
