Riverside Makes History At State 7-On-7 Tournament

The Riverside Rangers made history at the state 7-on-7 passing tournament in College Station, Texas. Riverside became the first El Paso team in the event's 14-year history to qualify for today's championship bracket. The Rangers just won one game in pool play, but their 114-point total broke a three-way tie for second in Pool M and placed the Rangers with the top 32 teams after pool play. The Rangers fell to A&M Consolidated in the quarter finals, which ended their historic run.
The other two area teams that represented El Paso were Franklin and Coronado. Each won a game in pool play , but failed to qualify for the champions bracket. They played in the consolation bracket with 32 other teams, Coronado fell to Austin Bowie and Franklin won two games before falling to Langham.
Desoto high school won the Division 1 champions bracket, defeating Houston Lamar 34-25.
