Riverside Back at Practice, Ready for 4A State Tournament

The Riverside Boys Soccer team defeated Ysleta, 2-1 on Saturday in the 4A Regional Final in Wichita Falls, Texas, advancing to the 4A State Tournament in Georgetown, Texas. On Thursday, April 14, Riverside will face Kilgore at 3:00pm MT at Birkleback Field, while at 5:00pm MT, Boerne Champion will face Humble Kingwood Park will meet in the other semifinal. Winners will meet at 12:00pm MT in the State Championship game to be played on Saturday, April 16.

Riverside Head Coach Rick Rivera said, "It was such a hard game, Ysleta is such a good team, I mean, when we were playing a man short, it's like what do we have to do to win this game. It was fortunate for us that Osvaldo hit that perfect shot."  Sophomore Midfielder Osvaldo Chavez added, "No one thought we could go far, but now that they know we are here in the state semifinals, everybody is proud of us."

The Class 4A Texas boys high school soccer semifinal match of the Riverside Rangers against Kilgore will be broadcast LIVE on Thursday, April 14, by Sports Radio 1380 AM (KHEY) in El Paso. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 pm MDT.  If the Rangers win on Thursday, the championship game will also be broadcast LIVE on Saturday, April 16, beginning at 12 noon MDT, on Sports Radio 1380 AM (KHEY) in El Paso.
