Legendary Texas Western Forward Nolan Richardson was in El Paso this weekend for his charity golf tournament and took time to address UTEP Basketballs self proclaimed "toughest schedule ever."
"In order to be good, you have to take your chances with the best. That way if you are very good against the best, that means you have a chance to move on to the Elite Eight, the Final Four, have no fear. The fans, all they have to do is support. When they support the Miners, it makes it difficult for teams to come in and win basketball games. So it's all about supporting, supporting, supporting," said Richardson who played with Texas Western from 1978-81.
He would go on to win a National Championship as head coach of Arkansas in 1994. Last season UTEP retired Richardson's jersey. It now hangs in the rafters of the Haskins Center.
