Rhinos will help “Conquer Children’s Cancer” with shaved heads
The Rhinos are back after two weeks on the road to Conquer Children’s Cancer, partnering with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation to raise money for children’s cancer research during the series against the Texas Brahmas. Although online bidding for the “first swipe” on the El Paso Rhinos Web site ended yesterday, fans will still be able to bid Friday and Saturday night during the games. As always, military members and their families get in free when they show their military ID, courtesy of Interglobal Logistics.
The Rhinos are getting ready to begin the playoffs soon. “This weekend will be another big test for us. This team is very physical and finish their checks; this is what playoff hockey will be like,” said Coach Herman and added “we have an opportunity of securing home ice advantage in play offs this weekend.”
Fans will be able to bid for the “first swipe” of the player’s heads on Friday and Saturday, and they will shave their heads proceeding Saturday’s game. Sunday’s game will begin at 4:30 p.m. The Rhinos raised $2,000 last year in this same event, this year’s goal is $3,000. Next week will be the last series of the regular season, so this is one of the last chances to go out and support the El Paso Rhinos.
Tickets are still available at all Ticketmaster locations and at the El Paso County Coliseum box office and Sierra Providence Events Center box office. The Events center box office opens at 6 p.m. on game nights.
