Rhinos Beat Junior Oilers, 12-1

Rhinos Beat Junior Oilers, 12-1
Sports
Saturday, December 15, 2012 - 11:47pm

David Nelson scored the hat trick in the second period and the Rhinos got scoring from nine different players in El Paso's 12-1 win over the Tulsa Junior Oilers Saturday night.

Nelson scored goals at 4:07 and 11:34 and 14:50 of the second frame, while defenseman Trent Edwards tallied twice for the Rhinos.

Gunnar Bjorklund, Chad Ceasarz, Luke Dotto, John Morales, Tyler Brady, Austin Hoff and Mike Rivera all tallied for the hosts as El Paso outshot the Junior Oilers, 61-18.

Kale Trylinski one-timed a pass from ex-Rhino David Morong past El Paso goalie Terry Hughes for Tulsa's only goal of the night at 13:48 of the third.

El Paso improves to 16-3-1, and the Rhinos' 33 points improves their lead over the Boulder Bison to five points in the WSHL's Mountain Conference.

Tulsa (4-15-0) continues to struggle. The first-year franchise's eight points put it at the bottom of the Western States Hockey League and the Mid-West Conference.

The two teams will meet once more Sunday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. MST. For tickets and information, contact the Rhinos' front office at 915.479.PUCK (7825), or go to www.elpasorhinos.com.
