Wednesday, June 4, 2014 - 2:49pm

The Southwestern International PRCA Rodeo will celebrate its 85th Anniversary Rodeo, Thursday June 5th through Sunday June 8th at the El Paso County Coliseum. Thursday, Friday and Saturday performances will start at 7:30 PM (gates open at 6:30 PM); Sunday’s performance will begin at 4:00 PM (gates open at 3:00 PM).

The whole family will enjoy watching professional cowboys compete in Bull Riding, Bareback Riding, Saddle Bronc Riding, Steer Wrestling, Team Roping, Tie Down Roping, and our super fast girls compete in Barrel Racing. Competitors can win cash prizes that go twards qualifying for the National Finals Rodeo (NFR) in Las Vegas, NV in December. Last year the El Paso Rodeo awarded over $50,000 to winning contestants in the August competition.

The Rodeo is the longest running sporting events in El Paso history and began in 1929 by prominent business leaders. It has grown to be consistently positioned in the top 50 of 690 professional rodeos in the United States and Canada by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) and ranks the 5th oldest rodeo in Texas and the 25th oldest rodeo in the nation. For more infomation about the PRCA please log on to www.prorodeo.com.

Ticket prices are $10 for General Admission and $20 for Box Seats (additional service fees apply). Tickets available at all area Ticket Master locations, Ticketmaster.com, the coliseum box office or by phone 1-800-745-3000. This year is sure to be a lot of fun with the Family Fun Zone outside the barn doors, which will feature inflatables for the kids, food stands, vendor booths, and a mechanical bull to try you cowboy skills. Inside the arena the competitors will share the spot light with our famous rodeo clown and our nightly performance with escaramuzas, charros and
ballet folklorico. Each night the first 10 kids to sign up can participate in our Muttin’ Bustin’ contest (weight limit of 40 lbs.). We expect over 15,000 people to attend! Bring your friends and family, but hurry, ickets are selling fast!
