The New England Patriots are back on familiar ground playing in another Super Bowl. It has been a couple of years for Tom Brady and company, but Sunday they beat the Baltimore Ravens 23-20 in a close AFC Championship game worthy of the hype.
"A good football game. You saw a great football game tonight. You've seen a classic of two football teams that didn't want to budge. I mean physical football game, plays being made, but not many. Every yard was tough. That's what you saw tonight, you saw just a great, great effort, and it came down to just the last couple seconds." said Patriots DT Vince Wilfork.
"This team really overcame a lot and they fought hard all year, it wasn't always perfect just like today. We had our moments, but they hung in there and they fought hard, I got to give these guys a lot of credit. I'm happy for the players. They did a great job today." said Bill Belichick, New England Head Coach.
A missed field goal, some surprisingly stingy defense, and arguably the NFL's most versatile offense has given the patriots their fifth AFC title in eleven years.
"Great defense today, that's what got us that victory. That stop at the end of the game that put pressure on that kicker in the end of the game, that's amazing, we're going to the Super Bowl and that's crazy!" said tight end Rob Gronkowski. Brady shared the sentiment, however slightly less enthusiastically.
"I'm glad we won, glad we're moving on. You know, we've won ten straight, hopefully we can make it eleven."
New England will face the New York Giants who defeated San Francisco 20-17 in overtime for the NFC Championship. The rematch of Super Bowl XLII from 2008 is February 5th in the Super Bowl at Lucas Oil Field in Indianapolis.
