Water levels are up and activities abound this summer at Conchas Lake State Park! Due to rainfall and good conditions, all boat ramps and campgrounds are open and operational. The Conchas North Dock Marina, store, restaurant and lounge are also fully open after renovations and upgrades.

“Conchas Lake State Park is a great summer destination,” said State Park Director Tommy Mutz. “We invite families to come and enjoy the lake, and we are excited to offer a variety of community and business-sponsored events.”

Summer events for 2014 kicked off with the “Anything that Floats Race,” on Memorial Day Weekend. The Parade of Boats event took place on the July 4th weekend, sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary #19, State Parks and the US Army Corps of Engineers.

The Conchas Boat Rodeo is coming up on August 9, 2014 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Boat, ski and try your luck in this rodeo on the water! This event is sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary and winners will be announced at Legion Post #19 at 6 p.m. on the 9th. Registration is $40 before August 3rd and $55 thereafter. Contact beatemacias@hotmail.com for information.

Conchas Lake State Park offers scenic views of beautiful canyons, and is a fun place to boat, camp, hike and relax. The lake has just been stocked with Walleye and is a premier fishing destination.

State Parks officials remind you to always make safety your number one priority—on land and in the water. Wearing lifejackets saves lives; always wear a lifejacket when you’re on a boat or swimming. State Parks offers FREE boating safety classes around the state and on-line throughout the year.
