An evening adventure awaits--City of Rocks State Park is having a Star Party at dusk on Saturday, March 22 and you’re invited!

“The vernal equinox is a perfect opportunity to view the night sky with the whole family,” said Tommy Mutz, State Parks Division Director. “The stars are amazing!”

From 7 – 9 p.m. in the Orion group area of the park, join Matt Wilson of the National Public Observatory for an informational and intriguing look at the night sky using a laser-guided presentation. Never could make out the Big Dipper? Wilson will point out this and other asterisms for you in the beautiful night sky.

Then, observe the constellations in greater detail at the Gene & Elizabeth Simon Observatory.

City of Rocks State Park is located approximately 30 miles south of Silver City and 30 miles north of Deming. From Deming, take Highway 180 North; turn right on State Road 61 East for 3 miles and left into the park. From Silver City, take Highway 180 South; turn left on State Road 61 for 3 miles and left into the park.
