A new lake record blue catfish has been verified at Lake Tawakoni. The massive fish was caught back on February 15, 2014.

Jody Jenkins hauled in the lunker using a cur bait and officially had it weighed at 87.50 pounds, according Texas Parks and Wildlife. The catfish measured 52.5 inches long.

Lake Tawakoni is located in Wills Point, Texas. The lake spreads 37,879 acres in surface area with more than five miles of shoreline. Depth can reach up to 70 feet.

Predominant fish in the lake include Striped and hybrid striped bass, white bass, catfish, crappie and largemouth bass.
