Oregon has passed Florida State in the second BCS Standings of the season. Alabama retains the top spot.

Statement from BCS Executive Director Bill Hancock:
“Eight unbeaten teams remain. Last year at this time there were ten undefeated teams,
but only Notre Dame finished the regular season without a loss. With six weeks to go, it will be
interesting to see how many teams finish the season undefeated.”

Only once in the history of the BCS has neither No. 1 nor No. 2 in the Week 2 Standings played in the BCS National Championship Game. Texas and Alabama were ranked No. 1 and No. 2 respectively on Oct. 26, 2008 (Week 2), and neither team played in the national title game.
