Old Spice Classic Pits UTEP Against Oklahoma in Opening Round

UTEP will face Oklahoma on day one of the Old Spice Classic on Thursday, Nov. 22 in Orlando, Fla. The tournament bracket was released on Thursday morning.
ESPN2 will have national coverage of the matchup between the Miners (15-17 in 2011-12) and the Sooners (15-16) beginning at 5 p.m. MT.
Other first round pairings are West Virginia versus Marist (10 a.m. MT), Vanderbilt versus Davidson (noon) and Clemson versus Gonzaga (7 p.m.). All three games will be shown on ESPN2.
UTEP will face either Clemson or Gonzaga on Friday, Nov. 23. ESPN2 will carry either game at 3:30 or 5:30 p.m. MT.
Following an off-day on Nov. 24, the championship, third-place, fifth-place and seventh-place games will all be played on Sunday, Nov. 25.
The Old Spice Classic field features four 2012 NCAA Tournament teams (Davidson, Gonzaga, Vanderbilt, West Virginia). All games will take place at HP Field House at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
UTEP and Oklahoma will square off for the second time in four seasons. The Miners tipped the Sooners, 89-74, in the All College Classic on Dec. 21, 2009 in Oklahoma City. UTEP Coach Tim Floyd and Oklahoma coach Lon Kruger will match wits for the second time. On March 17, 1995, Floyd’s Iowa State Cyclones topped Kruger’s Florida Gators, 64-61, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
