"We want to get the best local kids in town and the state," head coach Orin Richburg said. "Kendra (Walker) has flexibility in different areas for what were trying to do."

Walker who ranks first in New Mexico in the 100m with a time of 11.99 and second in the 200m at 25.57 is a solid pickup for the NM State track and field team.

"Kendra (Walker) is one of the best athletes in the state," assistant coach Paul Harkins said. "We feel we can attract the best of the best in New Mexico."

This past week at the New Mexico High School Championships Walker won the class 5A 200-meter run, while placing second in the 100-meter run.
