Alishia Perkins of the New Mexico State University track and field team was named Western Athletic Conference Women's Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 7-13.

Perkins, a junior from Dallas, Texas (Skyline H.S.), finished in the top three overall in each event she com¬peted in at the Texas Tech Open. Perkins finished first overall in the 200m with a time of 24.59, recording the top time in the WAC 2013 season. Perkins then finished third in the 55m with a time of 7.13, which also moved her up to second all-time in the N.M. State record books.

Perkins and the rest of the track and field team will travel to Albuquerque, N.M., for the Cherry and Silver Invitational on Jan. 18-19.
