NMSU's Menzies meets with Texas Tech in Lubbock

Sports

POSTED: Tuesday, March 26, 2013 - 4:13pm

UPDATED: Tuesday, March 26, 2013 - 10:41pm

Looks like Marvin Menzies will stay at NMSU.  Today, Menzies told the Las Cruces Sun News that he was not in Lubbock to interview for the Texas Tech head coaching job, that he was there to pick the brain of the chancellor with whom he knows.  Menzies said he is happy in Las Cruces and at NMSU.

Menzies has been NMSU's coach for six seasons since 2007, and has an overall record of 126-79, and has taken the Aggies to three NCAA Tournament's, losing to Michigan State, Indiana and Saint Louis in the first round.

Before his first head coaching position at NMSU in Las Cruces, Menzies was an assitant at Louisville, UNLV and USC.  In November 2012, Menzies signed an extension to remain with the NMSU program through 2017 and is making approximately $280,500.

Last season, Texas Tech finished 11-20, and 3-15 in the Big 12.
