Collegiate Baseball newspaper announced The Louisville Slugger NCAA Division I All-American baseball teams, Thursday, May 31, and New Mexico State junior catcher Zac Fisher was named a third-team selection.

Fisher becomes the second catcher from NM State to be named an All-American as former Aggie catcher Jeff Farnham was named an All-American in 2009. Fisher earned the honor after hitting .363 with 81 hits, six home runs and 58 RBI.

"We are very proud of Zac," head coach Rocky Ward said. "He is more than deserving of the honor and he represents the entire program, university and community."

Fisher adds to his list of honors as he was named a 2011 ABCA All-Region member, a preseason All-American (NCBWA, CollegeSportsMadness.com, CollegeBaseballInsider.com) and a 2011 & 2012 first team All-WAC selection.

He led the team in batting average (.363), slugging percentage (.525), hits (81), RBIs (58), doubles (18) and total bases (117) in 2012 as he helped the Aggies reach an NCAA Regional Tournament for the first time since 2003 and for the third time in program history.

NM State is the No. 2 seed in the Tucson Regional and will face No. 3 seed Louisville, Friday, June 1 at 5pm (MDT) at Hi Corbett Field in Tucson, Ariz. The game is scheduled to air on ESPNU and WatchESPN.com (formerly ESPN3.com).
