NMSU Swimmer Concludes NCAA Championships

New Mexico State freshman swimmer Aliena Schmidtke concluded the 2012 NCAA Championships with the 100 freestyle on the third day of the national meet.

She posted a 50:37 time in the 100 free for a 57th-place finish in the preliminaries.

Additionally, Schmidtke finished in 56th place (1:48.99) in the 200 free and in 61st place (23.07) in the 50 free at the NCAA meet.

This season, Schmidtke won the 200 free at the WAC Championships with a school-record performance of 1:46.38. She was named WAC Freshman of the Year and was the second consecutive Aggie to earn the award. Schmidtke also posted runner-up honors in the 50 free (22.82) and 100 free (49.28) with program-record times.
