The New Mexico State University track and field team concluded the Michael Johnson/Baylor Invitational on Saturday, April 21, with yet another new school record from junior LaSasha Aldredge.

Aldredge broke another all-time school record in the 400m during the outdoor season. Aldredge placed sixth overall with a time of 54.03, which eclipsed her previous record she set earlier this season.

A pair of Aggie distance runners put on good performances over the weekend. Senior Madelyn Stoltze finished third overall in the 5,000m with a time of 17:22.38, which places her fourth all-time in the NM State record books. Junior Samantha Thompson placed ninth overall in the 1,500m with a time of 4:49.74.

Two Aggies improved upon school records in the 3,000m steeplechase. Freshman Jenna Padilla placed third overall with a time of 11:20.80, placing her fifth all-time for NM State. Freshman Caroline Lewiecki finished right behind Padilla for fourth overall with a time of 11:24.94.

Sophomore Alishia Perkins put together a good showing, finishing first overall in the 200m with a time of 24.53 and finished 10th overall in the 100m with a time of 12.13. Senior Melanie Clay posted a time of 2:13.42 in the 800m, good for ninth overall in the event.

NM State competed strong in the field events as well. Freshman Mareka Clark finished fifth overall in the triple jump with a mark of 11.96m. Sophomore Horlexus Willis also competed in the triple jump, finishing seventh overall with a distance of 11.55m. Senior Kelsey Brennan finished third overall in the javelin throw with a mark of 42.73m.

The Aggies will compete in their last regular season meet next weekend on Saturday, April 28, in San Marcos, Texas, for the Texas State Invitational.
