NMSU Men's Golf in a Tie for 11th at NCAA Regionals

The New Mexico State Aggies are currently tied for 11th after two rounds of the NCAA Regional Golf Tournament, with a team score of 7-over par, 583 The Aggies fired a 1-under par, 287 in the second round.

For the second straight day the NM State men’s golf team along with the rest of the field, were forced off the course due to weather conditions. The delay lasted an hour and 35 minutes.

Junior Zachery Fullerton led the Aggies in the second round with a 2-under par, 70. He carded four birdies in the round and is tied for 39th with a two round score of 2-over par. Senior Tim Madigan fired a 1-under par, 71 in round two and is now at 1-under par, 143 for the tournament, tying him for 22nd. Madigan had four birdies in the round.

Freshman Collin Pratt and junior Gaston De La Torre carded a 1-over par, 73 in round two. Pratt is currently 2-over par, 146 for the tournament after recording four birdies on day two. He is tied for 39th. De La Torre in 4-over par, 148 after two rounds and is tied for 54th overall. He grabbed three birdies in the second round.

Sophomore Justin Shin is currently tied for 59th overall after a 2-over par, 74 in round two. Shin is 6-over par, 150 for the tournament after recording two birdies in his second round.

Oklahoma State leads the tournament at 25-under par, followed by Auburn (-9), Georgia (-6), Clemson (-6), and TCU (-5). Oklahoma State’s Sean Einhaus and Georgia’s T.J. Mitchell lead the individual tournament at 7-under par.

The Aggies did wrap up the first round on Friday morning, finishing at 8-over par, 295, tying for 12th overall as a team. Senior Tim Madigan and junior Gaston De La Torre also finished up their first rounds at the 7,758‐yard, par‐72 Colorado National Golf Club. Madigan carded an even par, 72 and De La Torre fired a 3-over par, 75.

The Aggies will wrap up play tomorrow, Saturday, May 21st.
