The New Mexico State men's basketball team won its fifth consecutive game with an 80-68 victory over Idaho.

The Aggies (13-5, 3-0 WAC) are now 10-0 this season when they score 80 points or more. Redshirt senior forward Wendell McKines led all scorers with 23 points and 10 rebounds for his 11th double-double of the year and 38th of his career.

Senior guard Hernst Laroche had a season-high 20 points on a 5-of-10 performance from the field including a 3-for-5 showing at the 3-point line.

The Crimson and White post players also contributed with 12 points from senior Hamidu Rahman and 10 points from sophomore Tshilidzi Nephawe.

The Aggies trailed Idaho, 37-35, at halftime. Rahman had a team-high nine points on a 4-of-4 shooting performance. McKines had seven points and five rebounds, while freshman guard Daniel Mullings and Nephawe contributed six points each.

NM State had a size advantage and scored 10 more points in the lane, 20-10 and shot 56 percent from the field (14-of-25) in the first half. After the break, the Aggies shot 61.9 percent from the field (13-of-21).

In addition, this was the 1,000 men's basketball radio broadcast for the 'Voice of the Aggies' Jack Nixon. He was recently named the 2011 New Mexico Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriter Association. This is the second career award for the Omaha, Neb., native.

The Aggies return to the road and play at San Jose State, 19 and Hawai'i, Jan. 21.
