UPDATED: Friday, January 18, 2013 - 12:43am

The New Mexico State men's basketball team snapped Utah State's 13-game winning streak with a 64-51 victory. The Aggies (11-8, 5-2) had four players in double figures with senior forward Bandja Sy scoring a game-high 16 points.

Sy was 7-of-9 from the field to lead the Aggies to a 57.8 field goal percentage (26-of-45). The Crimson and White have won the last five straight with senior forward Tyrone Watson and sophomore guard Daniel Mullings contributing 12 points each. Sophomore guard K.C. Ross-Miller added 10.

NM State stopped the Navy-clad Aggies (14-2, 5-1) with a strong defensive performance and forced 14 turnovers and held USU to 18 first-half points. Freshman center Sim Bhullar owned the paint and blocked five shots, which tied a career-best mark.

It was a low-scoring first half with the Aggies taking a 23-18 lead into the break. Mullings led all scorers with nine points, and Watson added five points and five rebounds. The Aggies shot 45.5 percent from the field (10-of-22) and held Utah State to 25.8 percent shooting (8-of-31).

Early in the second half, the Aggies used a 7-0 run to take its first double-digit lead of the game, 34-22, when Ross-Miller hit a 3-pointer at the 16:11 mark. NM State continued to build its advantage and had its largest lead of the contest, 21 points, 56-35, on a three-point play from Ross-Miller with 5:54 left in regulation. The NM State offense was impressive in the second half with a 69.6 percent performance from the field (16-of-23).

The Aggies continue its three-game home stand Saturday, Jan. 19, when they host San Jose State at 7 p.m.
