NMSU men’s golf tied for eighth at NCAA Regional

TEMPE, AZ — The New Mexico State men’s golf team carded a team score of 1-under par, 279 in round two of the NCAA Regional Golf Tournament, at the par-70, 7,036-yard ASU Karsten Golf Course. The Aggies shaved off six strokes from round one to round two and are now 4-over par, 564 (285-279) after two rounds of play, placing them in a tie for eighth.
Sophomore Brett Walker led NM State in round two with a 2-under par, 68. He carded a team-high four birdies on the day and now sits in a tie for 16th overall at 1-under par, 139 (71-68). Senior Derek Baade continued his solid play with a 1-under par, 69 in round two, recording three birdies in the round. He is tied for 21st overall at even-par, 140 (71-69).
Freshman Kenneth Fadke rebounded in round two with an even-par, 70, improving seven strokes from round one. Fadke carded two birdies on the day and is now tied for 56th at 7-over par, 147 (77-70). Senior Justin Shin went 2-over par, 72 in round two and is now 2-over par, 142 (70-72), placing him in a tie for 33rd.
Junior Willy Hogan mirrored his first round score in round two with a 3-over par, 73. Hogan had three birdies in the round and is now 6-over par, 146 (73-73), placing him tied for 52nd.
UCLA leads the tournament at 19-under par, followed by UCF (-8), Georgia (-6), Duke (-3) and Texas A&M (-3). Greg Eason of UCF leads the tournament at 12-under par.
