New Mexico State senior libero Kelsi Phillips has been named Western Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 26-Oct. 1. This is the first-ever WAC Player of the Week honor for Phillips.
Phillips, a native of Scottsdale, Ariz. averaged 6.29 digs per set last week as the Aggies defeated Idaho and Utah State to go to 3-0 in WAC play.

"Phillips has been playing very well for us," head coach Mike Jordan said. "She is a key part to our success and she continues to help us win matches."

Phillips got off to a good start last week as she marked a career-high 30 digs against Idaho, Sept. 29 then followed that with a 14-dig performance against defending WAC Tournament champions Utah State. The 30 digs is the conference high in WAC matches this season.

Phillips is the first Aggie player to tally 30 digs in a four-set match since former Jordan Bostic accomplished the feat in Moscow, Idaho against the Vandals, Oct. 27, 2005. Phillips ranks fourth in the league with 4.38 digs per set and has posted double-digit digs in 13 matches with 20-plus digs in three matches.

Phillips and the Aggies take on in-state rival New Mexico, Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 7pm (MT) in the Pan American Center. The match is scheduled to air on TV with show times available at www.AggieVision.tv.
