New Mexico State men’s golfer Patrick Beyhan won the 2013 Albuquerque Men’s City Amateur Golf Championship, this past weekend with a record-breaking 23-under par, 193 at the Los Altos Golf Course in Albuquerque, N.M.

“Winning this tournament has given me some confidence that I can carry with me into the upcoming fall season with NM State and hopefully be a contributor for my team,” Beyhan said. “I had a great week on the golf course and had a lot of fun as well.”

Beyhan, a 2010 graduate of La Cueva High School in Albuquerque, carded rounds of 8-under par, 64 in round one, followed by an 11-under par, 61 in round two, finishing the tournament with a 4-under par, 68. He also won the event in 2012.

Beyhan will also compete in the Sun Country Amateur Match-Play event and the U.S. Amateur Qualifier this summer.

Beyhan redshirted during the 2012-13 season after transferring from Western New Mexico.

Beyhan played two seasons at Western New Mexico. As a freshman, Beyhan was named RMAC Freshman of the Year after posting a team record 74.4 first-year scoring record. He also set freshman team records with 14 rounds of par or better and a low round 66 (-6). Beyhan was named second team All-RMAC, selected to the Spring Championship All-Tournament team and the Ping All-Central Region Team. As a sophomore, Beyhan competed in nine tournaments placing in the top-5 five times. He averaged a 72.6 strokes per round average.
