New Mexico State redshirt freshman cornerback Miles Washington (Los Angeles, Calif.) suffered an injury in Saturday’s spring practice scrimmage at Aggie Memorial Stadium. Washington is expected to undergo surgery late this evening.  Reports from practice this morning say it was a neck injury, though NMSU will not confirm that, several reports have Washington moving his upper body.

“At this time we have no further information on the severity of the injury and the NM State Athletics Department asks that the privacy of the family be respected. Our thoughts and prayers are with Miles and his family.” NM State Athletics Director Dr. McKinley Boston

“We are very sorry to learn about Miles’ injury. Miles and his family are in our thoughts. At this point we are waiting to hear from the doctors. Our hopes and prayers are with them.” New Mexico State Interim President Dr. Manuel Pacheco

“This is a tough situation. We just hope and pray the best for Miles. The entire team will be praying for him and we are just going to believe that good things will come.” NM State Head Football Coach Doug Martin
