The New Mexico State volleyball team ended a two-game losing streak by defeating the Fresno State Bulldogs in straight sets (25-23, 25-17, 25-15) Thursday night at the Pan American Center.

With the win, NM State goes to 19-7 overall and 8-3 in Western Athletic Conference play. Fresno State falls to 11-13 on the year and 5-6 in league play. The Aggies outhit Fresno State .240-.048 while each team tallied eight blocks each.

The Aggies started off slow in the first set. At one point Fresno State won eight of 10 points to take an 11-7 lead. After a timeout by Coach Mike Jordan while trailing 19-15, the Aggies came back to win six of the next eight points to tie the score at 21.

Aided by two big kills by senior Kelsey Brennan, the Aggies finished off the set winning 25-23. Brennan led the Aggies with five kills in the first set while sophomore outside-hitter Stephanie Ziegler added 4 kills.
The Aggies started off the second set better than the first, taking an early 11-7 lead. Freshman outside-hitter Meredith Hays, who had only one kill in the first set, seemed to come alive and led the Aggies with five kills in the second set.

The Bulldogs didn't go away quietly winning the next four points to tie the match at 11. The Aggies answered right back, however, with a six-point rally of their own to take command of the set.
NM State finished off the set with a couple of big kills by Hays, winning 25-17. The Aggies had a .344 hitting percentage during the second set.

NM State controlled the third set from start to finish. The Aggies had a couple of four-point rallies and a five-point rally during the set.

They were once again led by Brennan, who finished with a team-high 12 kills, and Hays who finished with nine kills.

The Aggies finished off the Bulldogs winning the final set 25-15.

Aside from Brennan and Hays, the Aggies were led by senior setter Jennah DeVries who finished the match with her team-high 12th double-double, amassing 36 assists and 10 digs.

The Aggies look forward to Senior Night against Nevada, Saturday, Nov. 5 in the Pan American Center. First serve is set for 7:05pm (MT) and is scheduled to air on television as a part of the AggieVision Productions.
