ABOUT THE AGGIES: The Aggies head into this weekend’s games sitting in a tie for the fourth spot of the league standings. NM State is 27-21 overall and 12-9 in WAC play.

The team dropped a series to Texas State on opening weekend of league play, then traveled to CSU Bakersfield and won one of three games there. The Aggies bounced back and took the series from Dallas Baptist, who was picked to win the WAC in the preseason coaches’ poll, but fell in two of the three games versus Sacramento State. Three weeks ago the Aggies swept the series against Louisiana Tech in Ruston, La. but dropped two-of-three to UT-Arlington two weeks ago at home. NM State bounced back and swept San Jose State in its final home series of the year.

NM State is hitting .299 as a team with four Aggies (who average at least 2.5 at-bats/game) hitting .300 or better. Junior Tanner Rust leads the team with a .409 batting average while senior Bobby Lecount isn’t far behind posting a .365 average on the year. Lecount, although, has a team-high 63 RBI on the year.

The Aggie pitching staff heads into the weekend with a 5.26 ERA. Senior Adam Mott has worked more innings than any other Aggie pitcher working 82.0 innings this year. He also has a team-high 79 strikeouts this year. Senior lefty Ryan Beck has 70 K’s in 64.1 innings of work and is posting 9.79 strikeouts per nine innings, which leads the WAC.
