The New Mexico State baseball team (9-10) came back from a 5-0 deficit to hammer Alabama A&M (2-18) 20-6 in seven innings at Presley Askew Field Friday, March 15, 2013.

The Bulldogs jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the top of the first inning before senior right-hander Michael Ormseth settled down and allowed just one more run. Ormseth worked 6.0 innings and struck out eight batters to move to 2-2 on the year. He gave up six hits in the first, but redeemed himself as he gave up just one hit after that.

After being held scoreless in the bottom of the first, NM State caught fire offensively in the bottom of the second scoring eight runs on four hits, while the Bulldog defense helped the Aggie-cause committing three errors. Four of the Aggie runs came on a Tanner Rust grand-slam, while third baseman Bobby Lecount hammered a two-run homer over the leftfield wall.

The Bulldogs marked their last run of the night on a sacrifice bunt in the top of the third inning to make it an 8-6 ballgame. Junior Quinnton Mack posted a solo home run in the bottom of the third and the aggie got two more runs in the fourth.

The Alabama A&M pitching staff tallied six walks and hit one batter in the bottom of the fifth as the Aggies marked eight runs on two hits and two errors to take a 19-6 lead. One more run crossed the plate in the sixth before senior Evan Mott came in to close out the game in the seventh. He faced three batters and struck out one.

The Aggies face Alabama A&M in a doubleheader, Saturday, March 16 with the first game starting at 3 p.m. (MT).
