ABOUT THE AGGIES: The NM State baseball team is 14-12 overall and is 1-2 in WAC play after the first week of conference play. The Aggies head into the road series with the Roadrunners only 1-7 in away games.

NM State has won six out of the last eight games heading into Thursday’s game. The Aggies are 12-8 against right-hand starters and are 5-2 when games are decided by one or two runs. NM State has a better chance of winning when scoring first as they are 7-1 so far when that happens.
The Aggies have outscored their opponents 201-164 this season, but were outscored 41-29 in the three-game series against Texas State last weekend. There are four Aggies with at least 20 runs with junior Tanner Rust leading that category as he has crossed the plate 28 times. NM State has a .290 team-batting average with four Aggies now above the .300 mark this year. Rust, who is hitting a team-high .358 on the year, struggled against the Bobcats as he hit .273 (3-of-11).

The Aggies have posted 23 home runs this year and are 5-1 when hitting two or more homers in a game. Senior Bobby Lecount leads the way with five bombs this year and there are four different Aggies with at least three home runs in 2013.

The NM State pitching staff has a 5.10 team ERA and has totaled 234 K’s on the year, compared to its opponent’s 197 strikeouts. Of the four regular starters, senior Adam Mott has worked the most innings (40.1) and is tied for the team-high in strikeouts with senior lefty Ryan Beck (37 K’s). Four Aggie hurlers have at least 10 appearances this season with senior Evan Mott lead the pack with 15 on the year. He has 29 strikeouts and a 3.48 ERA in 20.2 innings of work.

THIS WEEK’S OPPONENT: CSU-Bakersfield is 17-7 overall on the season while going 12-4 at home. The Roadrunners have started 2-1 in WAC play after their series with Sacramento State last weekend.

NM State is 1-0 against CSU-Bakersfield with their only meeting coming in 2012. The Aggies won the game 5-3 at Hardt Field in Bakersfield, Calif, Wednesday, May 16. That win gave head coach Rocky Ward win No. 400 of his career (all at NM State).

The Aggies scored five runs in four innings and starting pitcher, junior Casey Collins handled his own throwing seven innings while striking out two batters and giving up two earned runs. Junior third baseman Robert Lecount led the offensive charge going 2-of-4 at the plate with two RBI.
The Roadrunners are coached by Bill Kernen.

Tyler Shryock and Cael Brockmeyer lead the Roadrunners offensively. Shryock leads the WAC with a .390 batting average and 44 hits including three doubles and a triple. Brockmeyer has a .521 slugging percentage, 24 RBI and has hit three home runs this season.
