The New Mexico State volleyball team (18-7, 11-3 WAC) swept San Jose State (12-13, 8-7 WAC), 25-17, 25-19, 25-21, Thursday night in the Pan American Center.

The Aggies outhit SJSU .316-.132 with sophomore Meredith Hays posting a match-high 17 kills to go along with two solo blocks and seven digs.  Red shirt freshman Bradley Nash played efficiently as she posted a season-high .714 hitting percentage with five kills on seven swings. She also had three digs and two block assists.

"We're still getting better and there's a lot of room for improvement," head coach Mike Jordan said. "And I'm glad I'm seeing growth. We're fortunate that we've got depth and we can change things if we need to. We've got some options and it's just a matter of making sure everybody continues to improve and everybody stays aggressive."

The Aggies were the more aggressive team as the out-blocked the Spartans 8-5. NM State won set one 25-17 holding the Spartans to a .054 hitting percentage.  After the Aggies took a 15-14 lead, freshman Taylor Livoti marked one of her season-high four services aces giving the Aggies a lead it would not relinquish.

Set two saw NM State hold the Spartans under .100 again with junior Lauren Loerch putting down four kills while Hays added six of her own.  Loerch finished the evening hitting .381 with nine kills and only one error.  SJSU pulled two within two at 18-16 but three consecutive kills by the Aggies ended the set at 25-19.

The Spartans didn't let up in set three tied it late at 20-20 but two straight kills from Hays and an error by a Spartan took it to 23-20.  After an Aggie service error, Hays slammed down a kill which was followed by a kill from junior Desiree Scott to give NM State the 25-21 victory.  Scott ended the night with seven kills and three block assists.

The Aggies take on Utah State, Saturday, Nov. 3 in the Pan American Center.  For tickets call 575-646-1420.
