The New Mexico State men’s golf team wrapped up competition at the Arizona Intercollegiate, Tuesday after, finishing 10th overall with a three-round score 34-over par, 886. The Aggies carded their best team round of the tournament in the final round with a 5-over par, 289.

“I thought we were ready to get over the hump this afternoon but we had too many big scores,” head coach Mike Dirks said. “We need more consistent play across the board and our counter scores need to be better. I thought Kenneth and Justin both played good golf this tournament.”

Freshman Kenneth Fadke carded a final round score of 3-under par, 68, to lead the Aggies. He finished tied for 21st overall with a three-round score of 4-over par, 217. On the day, Fadke recorded eight birdies. Senior Justin Shin had his best round of the tournament in round three with a 2-under par, 69. He tied for 24th overall with a three-round score of 6-over par, 219.

Sophomore Brett Walker was 13-over par, 226 for the tournament, carding a final round score of 6-over par, 77. He tied for 57th overall.

Senior Derek Baade and junior Willy Hogan both tied for 73rd overall with a three-round score of 18-over par, 231. Baade was 4-over par, 75 in the final round, while Hogan was 9-over par, 80.

The University of New Mexico took the team title at 8-under par, followed by TCU (-6), California (-5), Arizona State (-1) and Arizona (+10). Michael Kim and Joel Stalter of California tied for the tournament individual champion at 9-under par.

The Aggies will be back on the course on Feb. 22-24 at the Bayou City Collegiate Championships in Houston, Texas.
