Nine Aggies Earn Preseason Honors from Phil Steele

The New Mexico State football team landed nine players on the Phil Steele's 2012 Preseason All-WAC Team as announced by Phil Steele, Monday morning. The Aggies had five offensive players including two offensive linemen on the list, while the defense grabbed three awards as well. Special teams were not overlooked as one Aggie was recognized.

Junior Davonte Wallace was named a first team selection at tackle and was the only Aggie to be named to the first team for the offense. Offensive tackle Andrew Kersten earned second team honors, while wider receivers Kevan Walker and Kemonte’ Bateman also earned second team honors. Quarterback Andrew Manley was named a third team pick.

Defensively, Walton Taumoepeau earned first team honors at defensive tackle, while defensive end Donte Savage and linebacker Bryan Bonilla garnered second team honors.

Place kicker Tyler Stampler was also selected as a third team member on special teams.
