Oakland Raiders owner Mark Davis joined newly hired General Manager Reggie McKenzie to announce that head coach Hue Jackson has been fired. Since 2002 the Raiders have had six different head coaches, all that lasted less than three full seasons. McKenzie was hired last week and was given authority over coaching decisions and is expected to give the team a complete overhaul. Davis and McKenzie spoke today about their decisions and their plans for the future...

Mark Davis, Raiders Owner, said "At one point in the season we were 7-4 with two games ahead of the division and then we lost four of the next five games to finish 8-8 and out of the playoffs. To say the least, it was certainly a disappointment."

Reggie Mckenzie, Raiders General Manager, added "The Raider organization, with respect and difference for all of it's tradition and history, is about to embark on a new era. On the release of Hue Jackson "The decision to move forward and where we going into this new era is gonna be a time for change, and I felt there was a need for change at the head coaching position from the top. So, we're moving into a new era. We're gonna improve every aspect of this organization. From players, coach, player personnel, it doesn't matter. The guy who parks the cars, it doesn't matter. If there's a chance to upgrade and get better, we're gonna do it."

McKenzie has become the first general manager since the death of owner Al Davis back in November.
